The HSE ACoP L8 requires service providers to ensure that measures put in place to control the risk of exposure to legionella are designed and carried out to be effective, safe and without risk to health when used.
It is also stipulates that an on-going dialogue between the provider and the client’s responsible person is maintained.

The responsibilities placed upon operators of cooling systems under the Health & Safety at Work Act and the revised ACoP are such that the operator must take reasonable care to ensure that the service provider of his choosing is competent to carry out the requirements expected to advise and carry out work on his behalf.
A Code of Conduct has been drawn up by the British Association for Chemical Specialities (BACS) and the Legionella Control Association (LCA) which sets out the areas that should be addressed by the service provider. Beacon Water Treatments conducts all its activities within the requirements of the LCA Code of Conduct.
